I Played Pickleball Barefoot!

No, I didn't really play barefoot, have you ever felt the texture of a court surface?! It's like sandpaper, I'd wear my paws raw.

Come along anyway, while I share my love story with the world's fastest growing sport, along with my gratitude for brands like Bahe', because without the minimalist shoe movement, my shin splints wouldn't let me play at all.

When I reached out to my friends at Bahe' with the idea to test their 'Revive' grounded minimalist running shoe, they were as excited as I was to explore a new use for this model. After a couple uses, they performed great and my feet and legs felt amazing.
Unfortunately, while I love the shoe for daily wear, I won't recommend these for court sports because the sole is a little too soft, leaving marks on the court and a ton of wear to the shoe. You'll see these on my feet in the gym (they kick me out for being barefoot) and all about town, but I'll stick with my cheap Amazon minimalist shoes for the wear pickleball gives.

Of course I followed up my play with some yoga postures that specifically spoke to my body's tension after 2 hours' work on court.

Pickleballers, I highly recommend both strengthening and stretching your hip and shoulders' entire range of motion to extend your body's longevity with this impactful sport.
Yoga asana is great for this! Check out your local yoga studio- Hatha and Iyengar styles are great for athletic cross training.
