Released in 1991, Nagarathil Samsara Vishayam is a Malayalam comedy-thriller directed by Prashanth and written by Kaloor Dennis. The film stars Jagadish, Siddique, Chithra, and Keerikkadan Jose in lead roles. The story follows Gopinatha Menon, an unemployed youth aspiring to become a film star, who joins his friend Samson as an assistant in a struggling film distribution company. During their first trip to a rural cinema hall, a mix-up leads them to a box full of money, which attracts the attention of a dangerous gang. As they attempt to escape, they get entangled in a series of events involving murder, stolen money, and a chase led by an underground hawala agent named Vikraman and his nephew Sundaresan.
