About Tirthji Maharaja:
Sri Bharati Krishna Tirthji Maharaja (Gurudeva) reconstructed the sixteen mathematical formulae from the Atharvaveda after diligent study and practice for almost eight years near the Sringeri forests region (now in Karnataka state, India).

According to Gurudeva, Vedic Maths is the ancient system of computation he rediscovered from the Parishisht (Bibliography) of Atharvaveda, also called Sulbha sutras or Ganit sutra, and primarily written in Sanskrit.

Gurudeva always said Vedic Maths is a science widely used and given by the ancient sages of India.

What are Vedic and Mathematics in Vedic Mathematics?
Vedic Mathematics is a system of mathematical calculation and problem-solving techniques that originated in ancient India.

The term “Vedic” refers to the fact that these techniques are based on the Vedas, which are the ancient Hindu scriptures. The techniques themselves are often based on a series of sutras or aphorisms that were originally composed in Sanskrit.

Let’s Understand the two words “Vedic” and “Mathematics.”

Vedic:
Vedic is a Sanskrit word meaning knowledge and wisdom. It also represents an era or period (like the Vedic period, 1700 to 1100 b.c, Iron Age ).

Mathematics
Mathematics is the abstract science of Numbers, Quantity, and Space applied to other disciplines such as physics and engineering (Applied).

Vedic + Mathematics:
These two-term Vedic Maths represent knowledge of Mathematics primarily related to the Vedic period. In other words, Vedic mathematics is used by the ancient Indians.

What is Vedic Mathematics?
The Monumental work, Vedic Maths, had been reconstructed by the Gurudeva the Parisita (Bibliography) of Atharvaveda after diligent research and Tapas for about eight years in the forests surrounding Sringeri.

These methods are not to be found in the present recensions of Atharvaveda; they were reconstructed by natural revelation from materials scattered here and there in Atharvaveda.

Some of the Most Important Features of Vedic Maths Sutra are its simplicity and integration, and because of this, anybody can find the solution to a difficult problem mentally.

One Vedic Maths sutra applies to many problems; in other words, one sutra has many applications and entirely depends on the understanding of the user. So how could he use and judge which Vedic Maths tricks suit the problem?

Vedic mathematics has many solutions to a single question. As we all know, multiplication is the foremost hurdle of many problems if we do the calculation. In Vedic Maths, many sutras emphasize solving multiplication mentally in seconds. We will discuss these sutras in an upcoming class.
