►Cressida Dick dramatically quit as Metropolitan Police Commissioner yesterday, after London mayor Sadiq Khan made it clear he had no confidence in her plans to reform the force.

The appointment will be overseen by the Home Secretary Priti Patel, who says the new chief must be prepared to tackle a policing culture that's seen the Met caught up in a series of damaging scandals. Among their other tasks, is the ongoing investigation into those Whitehall partygate allegations. Julian Druker reports.
