Kreting becomes so tanky that the Fire Flower doesn't work as well and you're basically forced to beat the Alpha Kretins one by one.

Challenge Medal accessory is an accessory that gives a 50% increase for HP, DEF, SPEED and Coins earned, and a 150% increase for POW.

The earliest you can get it is after beating Cholesteroad's Green Shell challenge as soon as you defeat Scutlet and restore Bowser's flames.

In short: it is the "Hard Mode with perks" for this game.
