Atheists love to say ‘atheism is the default position.’
Because babies are born without belief in God.
But babies are also born without teeth.
Without language.
Without logic.
Without the ability to control their bladder.
Ignorance is the default too.
And no one argues that ignorance is the goal.
We don’t stay at the default.
We grow.
We learn.
We develop the ability to reason about reality.
A newborn also doesn’t believe in math, logic, science, or morality.
That doesn’t mean those things are false.
It means the baby isn’t capable of understanding them yet.
So saying ‘atheism is the default’ isn’t an argument for atheism.
It’s an admission of starting in ignorance.
Maturity isn’t staying where you started.
It’s moving toward what best explains reality.
The question isn’t ‘what did you believe at birth?’
The question is ‘what is true?’
