Barkha Dutt speaks to Lt General Konsam Himalay Singh- the first 3 star general from the North East. He has seen action in the Kargil War and served at the Siachen Glacier. He is also a member of the state panel on Naga Peace talks.
Body of an Indian Army soldier was found at Khuningthek village in Manipur's Imphal East district on Sunday. He was identified as Sepoy Serto Thangthang Kom of the Army's Defence Security Corps (DSC) platoon at Leimakhong in Kangpokpi district. He hailed from Tarung in Imphal West.
"In a dastardly and cowardly act, unidentified individuals abducted and killed an Indian Army Soldier, Sepoy Serto Thangthang Kom. The slain soldier was on leave and was abducted from his home in Tarung, Neikanlong, Happy Valley, Imphal West. He was deployed at Leimakhong Military Station, Manipur," Army said in a statement.
