KING — A Video Poem About Peter Pan, Power, Fear, and Becoming Your Own Myth

It’s a poetic exploration of identity, power, queerness, fear, myth, and the collapse of childhood illusions.

This poem was written years after my earlier piece Peter Pan. Back then, I was still softening the truth, twisting innocence into metaphor because I wasn’t ready to face what the poem was actually about. I had a title — KING — and nothing else. Just a word on a blank page. A crown without a head.

Time passed. I grew. And when I revisited that abandoned title alongside the old poem, it clicked.
I finally understood why I had written it, long before I knew what it meant.

KING reveals the mechanics behind the first poem.
The “Author” who believed kings were divine misunderstood power itself.
“Savages are forged, kings are taught” reframes the split inside me: instinct versus expectation, rawness versus performance, queerness versus the roles I was supposed to inhabit.

This poem names the fear that Peter Pan only hinted at.
The boy who wished to stay a child becomes Pan — not the innocent hero, but the chaotic god. Desire, instinct, knowledge.
A figure who sees the world clearly, even when clarity hurts.

KING is about stepping into that power — terrifying, honest, intimate — and letting myth explain what childhood couldn’t.
