Topa’s Training Progress!

Описание: We wanted to share the great strides Topa, our ambassador American Kestrel, has been making in his ambassador training! Topa has multiple training sessions each day with his trainers. He is currently working on developing a repertoire of behaviors and preparing to be a traveling education ambassador for ORC. Topa is already very comfortable going to the scale to be weighed, jessing (putting on a safety leash for walks outside of his enclosure), loading into/out of his crate, and he enjoys target training. Over the past few weeks he has been working on going on walks outside on the glove and loading into the ORC van while in his crate. Many approximations go into training a finished behavior, and empowerment training always lets the ambassador dictate how and when to move forward. Topa showed his trainers that the sound of the van door sliding open and closed was a bit stressful for him at first, so his trainers took a step back in the criteria, working on positive reinforcements for the door opening and closing in small increments to get him comfortable before moving forward.
