Saint Vincent de Paul – The Father of Charity
Saint Vincent de Paul was born in 1581 in a small village in southern France to a poor farming family. From a young age, he dreamed of becoming a priest to help others.
After ordination, he served a wealthy family, but encounters with the sick, prisoners, and orphans changed his heart. He realized that Christ was present in the poor and suffering.
He founded the Congregation of the Mission and the Daughters of Charity, inspiring priests and nuns to dedicate their lives to serving the poor, the sick, and the abandoned.
Vincent combined compassion with organization, laying the foundation for Catholic charity works worldwide.
He died in 1660, was canonized in 1737, and is honored today as the patron saint of all charitable organizations.
