Episode 2 of a series showing how I built my own Sim rig. This is a series of DIY films showing how easy it is with basic tools to produce your own rig, for a cheap way to start sim racing, Total budget will be $100 or less. At the end of each episode I will try and list all the measurements and show diagrams of what I have produced.
I used 25mm x 50mm Box section for the basic frame, and incorporated a carbon kevlar seat from a Caterham G7 that was lying in a scrap heap. I will use a Logitech G27 wheel and pedals until I upgrade to Fanatec Elite V3 pedals, Fanatec Clubsport shifter and a new Simagic M10 Direct Drive wheel. I'm also planning an upgrade to triple monitors and standalone gaming PC so I can take part in Iracing and Asseto Corsa. This rig will be modified and then used after these upgrades.
Smoking Steel Garage is a channel dedicated to DIY fabrication, sim racing, track driving, karting, drifting, drag racing, hotrods, and general motoring shenanigans. I'm no expert in any of the above, But with a "can do" attitude I can usually get it done! My aim is to motivate you to have a go.
If you see me doing something wrong or you think there is better more effective way let me know in the comments below!
