Are you still asking yourself what. just. happened?! (Don’t worry, we ask ourselves that, too.) Yep, it’s Xanadu! It’s supposed to be weird. Haven’t you seen the movie or the live musical? No? You don’t watch 40-year-old movies in your free time? Ahhhh, my friends. You are missing out!

This is what happens when you combine a 38-year-old song from one of the craziest movies (but greatest soundtrack) of the 1980s, a 12-year-old One Voice Children’s Choir soprano, a few members from the Barlow Arts Conservatory’s Musical Theater Company, with an ultra colorful, hand-drawn Pegasus that was voted to be named Sir Glitter Sparkles. (Thanks for the name recommendation, lindspins16!) We hope you enjoy our spin on this crazy song and enjoy some of the “Xanadu" references throughout the video.

Reese had the opportunity to portray Kira in Xanadu Junior in the spring of 2017 for Barlow Arts Conservatory. She had so much fun portraying this role (and she fell in love with the soundtrack) that she wanted to make this music video. We hope you enjoy!

Reese Oliveira is 12 years old and is in seventh grade. She is the oldest of five children and she loves to SING! She has been a member of One Voice Children’s Choir since she was nine years old, and through the choir she has had the opportunity to sing for President Obama in the White House, participate in the choir’s music videos (recently celebrating 50 million views!), and tour France! She also recently returned from Fukuoka, Japan with a small singing group under the direction of Masa Fukuda. Reese also loves ballet and has been training with Barlow Arts Conservatory for two and a half years. Through ballet, she has had the opportunity to dance in the Nutcracker (twice!) and Coppelia. Reese’s other passion is acting for theater and film. She has been involved a Hale Center Theater Orem as Young Cosette in Les Miserables, and as child #1 for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. She has also portrayed Kira in Xanadu Jr., Annie in Annie, and Young Rapunzel in Tangled. She can be found in a few commercials and training videos throughout the intermountain region, and will be portraying Young Beth in the upcoming 2018 Little Women movie.
