Simple comfort food dal chawal
Today I prepared a very simple and comforting meal - dal, chawal, and hing wale sukhe aloo.
First, I washed and soaked the dal well so it turns soft and tasty.
Then, in a cooker, I heated two spoons of desi ghee and added cumin seeds and a pinch ofasafoetida for tempering.
As soon as the aroma came out, I added onions and sautéed them until golden brown.
After that, tomatoes and basic spices were added
salt, turmeric, and red chilli powder.
The masala was cooked well until the oil separated.
Then the dal was added, sautéed for a while, hot water was poured in, and it was pressure-cooked till two whistles.

Along with this, I made a simple hing-flavoured dry potato sabzi.
Thin and long-cut potatoes were cooked in hot oil with hing until crispy on the outside and soft from inside.
And finally... simple, soft steamed rice.
No heavy spices, no fancy recipes - just a plate full of homemade love that comforts both the stomach and the heart.
This is what real comfort food looks like — simple, tasty, and healthy
