A steam journey on a sunny Autumn day on the Budapest Children’s Railway. Gyermekvasut.
This is a wonderful narrow gauge railway run as a tourist line and youth organisation. Children are involved in many of the railway operations, continuing the tradition from when it was built in 1947.
The line normally operates with Mk49 diesel locomotives, but a steam locomotive (class 490) runs on select weekends throughout the year.
This shortened video shows the train departing from the lower Huvosvolgy station and tackling the climb to the highest point before arriving at Szechenyihegy.
