At 11 a.m. central, medical students across the U.S. will simultaneously rip open the envelopes containing their 2024 National Resident Matching Program results. Each year, SIU School of Medicine students, like thousands of other medical students throughout the country, apply to residency programs and rank them in order or preference. Residency programs also rank applicants. Then the NRMP uses a mathematical algorithm to match applicants and programs to their most preferred ranked choices to make the best possible match for all participants.
