Black Canyon of the Gunnison - Colorado - RV Living

Описание: Our next stop in Colorado is to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. We head outside of the Nat'l Park to Cimarron, where Bri somehow manages to miss the massive 500' tall dam that's holding back the largest body of water in Colorado, the Blue Mesa Reservoir. We're surprised to find a train display in the canyon, a monument to the past when Denver and Rio Grande (D&RG) used to run narrow gauge train tours through the wild west. Back inside the National Park, we have our sights set on hiking the Gunnison Route which requires a back country permit which we almost don't get. This unmarked, unmaintained class 3 scramble takes us from the rim to the floor of the canyon over 1.5 miles and 1,900' of elevation and then all the way back up. Cheese and crackers, it's an adventure!!
