This week we are looking at the Renner industrial coating 643/851 2k polyurethane Cabinet Refining Game Changer. The 643 combined with the 851 would be the first legitimate 2 coat system I have seen for water base wood coatings to date. You could also use the 851 as a stand alone self seal system and get great results.
Technical Data
The door used in this video was a commercially made door that has a solvent based stain with a solvent based conversion varnish over it. The door was sanded to 180 grit and then one side was shot with the 643 2k polyurethane sealer and the other with shellac. The back side of the door was sanded to 180 grit as well and the Renner 851 2k polyurethane self sealing top coat was applied. The panels were allowed to dry for 3 days before the testing was done.
