Overall, I think you can't go wrong with either of these recorders - it just comes down to preference. Listening on studio monitors + headphones, both sound pretty identical.

This is even with the H5 Studio having 'F' series pre-amps. I may keep the X8 and return the H5 Studio but will take a few days to decide. Mainly being because - the audio is similar, it has touch screen, easier to use. --- I'm curious though as to what you all think.

Also, amazon has the X8's used for around $319 - so def worth looking into!

What would you pick? Both sound fantastic if you just listen through speakers, you won't hear hiss or background noise.

CORRECTION: x8 has a built in speaker as well. (speaker is not as loud as H5 studio) You also will need the BTA (Bluetooth) adapter to use the app on the x8. Different modes on the x8 make it far more easier to use as well, the apps(modes) basically simplify toggles based on what you want to record
