Exploring the Coastal Path from Teignmouth to Brixham - Devon. The best of Three Coastal Adventures

Описание: Welcome to this episode of Day Tripper Daz. The weather in February 2026 is pretty depressing. So it got me pondering about the hazy days of last summer, when the sun shone and all was lovely.
It was then I did three episodes walking the coastal paths of Torbay. Over these three programmes, I walked from Teignmouth to Torquay, Torquay to Goodrington and from Goodrington to Brixham.
So, as I dwell on the miserable weather here today, it occurred to me, why not combine these three lovely experiences into one 'best of' episode? So that's what I've done. It's not back to back episodes, more a highlights package of all three programmes rolled into one easily digestible montage.
So join me as we shut out the gloomy weather of winter and indulge in the delights of the summer of 2025. I start my journey in the seaside town of Teignmouth.
Teignmouth is a charming seaside town located in Devon, England, known for its beautiful beaches and historic charm. It lies on the mouth of the River Teign and is surrounded by lush countryside, making it an ideal holiday destination. The town features a mix of Georgian architecture, a vibrant arts scene, and family-friendly attractions such as the Teignmouth Pier and the Teignmouth Lido. Teignmouth's rich maritime heritage is evident in its historic buildings and the bustling harbour, while its proximity to Dartmoor National Park and the English Riviera offers ample opportunities for outdoor activities and exploration. The town has a population of approximately 14,932 as of the 2021 census, reflecting its appeal as a popular seaside resort and holiday location.
Next is Shaldon, just over the river Teign. Shaldon is a picturesque village located in the South Devon district of England, known for its stunning views of the estuary and its pastel cottages. The village is a popular bathing place and is characterized by its Georgian architecture. It is part of the electoral ward of Shaldon and Stokeinteignhead, with a population of 2,451 as of 2021. Shaldon is part of the Teignbridge local government district and has a rich history, including working farms, extensive orchards, and shipbuilding and repair yards on the waterfront. The village is built on reclaimed land, with a retaining wall around 1800 to prevent the river from returning to its beaches. Shaldon Zoo, which opened in the 1960s, is dedicated to caring for and conserving some of the world's rarest and most endangered species. The village also has a War Memorial for Roy Sydney Baker-Falkner, a WW2 Fleet Air Arm and Battle of Britain pilot who settled in Shaldon in 1930.

Torquay is a picturesque seaside town located in Devon, England, known as part of the English Riviera. It features palm-lined promenades, golden beaches, and a mild climate, making it a popular tourist destination. The town boasts a rich history, having once been a favourite holiday spot for Victorian high society, and offers a vibrant arts scene alongside stunning coastal views and elegant Victorian architecture. Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks along the scenic Tor Bay, boat trips, and various cultural attractions.
Paignton is next. Paignton is a seaside town located on the coast of Tor Bay in Devon, England. It is known for its beautiful sandy beaches, including Paignton Beach and Goodrington Sands, and is a popular holiday destination. The town has a rich history dating back to the 11th century, originally a Celtic settlement, and has evolved into a vibrant resort with attractions such as Paignton Zoo, the Dartmouth Steam Railway, and various family-friendly activities. The town's architecture reflects its Victorian past, with notable buildings like the Torbay Picture House and Oldway Mansion. Paignton is often referred to as part of the English Riviera, making it an ideal destination for a classic seaside holiday.
Finally, we make our way to the fishing seaside town of Brixham.
Brixham is a coastal town located in the borough of Torbay, Devon, England. It is known for its vibrant harbour, bustling fishing industry, and rich maritime history. The town has a population of approximately 16,825 and is famous for the Brixham Fish Market, which is the largest fish market in England by value of fish sold. Visitors can enjoy activities such as exploring the Golden Hind, a replica of Sir Francis Drake's ship, and visiting Berry Head National Nature Reserve, which offers stunning views and wildlife. Brixham's picturesque waterfront and charming cottages make it a popular destination for both locals and tourists alike.
