Previous to Toivonen's death, the seed of the end of Group B was produced, the accident of Joaquim Santos in Portugal in which 3 people died.

Inolvidable temporada marcada por la trágica muerte de Toivonen y Cresto, que cambiaría el curso del Mundial de Rally para siempre, suponiendo el fin de la época dorada del mundo de los rallies, los Grupo B.
Previo al fallecimiento de Toivonen, se produjo la semilla del fin de los Grupo B, el accidente de Joaquim Santos en Portugal en el que fallecieron 3 personas.
