In Valkenburg aan de Geul, the Christmas town (Dé kerststad van Nederland), not far from Maastricht, you can really get into the mood for the christmas time. The beautiful town shines in the Christmas glow and that for over 30 years. There are a lot of caves and with the Gemeentegrot also the oldest, largest and most visited underground Christmas market in Europe. Here you can stay for hours and just enjoy. The highlight is Saturdays and Wednesdays, the half-hour Christmas parade. We were here for the first time and have had a lot of fun, we just did not make many other attractions, because there should be more than 200 km of underground passages there and at 12 degrees constant cave temperature, the weather does not matter!
