A winter storm is expected to have a major impact on the Charlotte area on Saturday and Sunday, bringing potential widespread ice and a wintry mix to the Carolinas.
A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for the entire Charlotte area through 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 26. The Winter Storm Watch is in effect for the following counties: Alexander, Anson, Ashe, Burke, Cabarrus, Caldwell, Catawba, Chester, Chesterfield, Cleveland, Gaston, Iredell, Lancaster, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Richmond, Rowan, Stanly, Union, Watauga and York.

Saturday night to Sunday afternoon, but specific times remain fluid. Right now the heaviest precipitation will fall between mid Saturday evening through the middle of Sunday morning (Chris Mulcahy has a window between 7 p.m. Saturday through 7 a.m. Sunday). #Weather #Ice #WinterStorm #Charlotte
