More than 100 gather in Cleveland Heights for vigil marking year since ICE raid at Cilantro Taqueria

Описание: More than 100 people gathered in Cleveland Heights Monday evening for a candlelight vigil marking one year since the ICE raid at Cilantro Taqueria, where six workers were detained.

The demonstration also comes amid an immigration crackdown in Minnesota, where federal agents have conducted sweeping operations and frequently clashed with protestors, two of which have died this month after being shot by members of ICE and the U.S. Border Patrol, respectively.

Cleveland Heights community members, advocates, and area officials said they came to stand in solidarity with their immigrant neighbors. Since last year's Cilantro Taqueria raid, critics of the Trump administration have been vocal about defending immigrant rights and calling for accountability.

Despite single‑digit temperatures, attendees waded through deep snow to Coventry PEACE Park, carrying candles and signs as they formed a large circle around imitation tombstones representing the names of 39 people who died in ICE custody or were killed by ICE.
