MECCA DRONE SHOCK! Why Are Houthis Attacking Saudi Arabia? | Times Now World

Описание: Why are Yemen’s Houthis attacking Saudi Arabia again? The conflict has entered a dangerous new phase after Saudi Arabia said its air defences intercepted and destroyed a Houthi drone south of Mecca before it entered the holy city’s restricted airspace. The Houthis deny targeting Mecca, while Saudi Arabia has warned that the security of the holy city is a “red line.” The latest escalation follows renewed fighting in Yemen after years of relative calm, with Houthi forces expanding along the Red Sea coast and launching missile and drone attacks against Saudi targets. Saudi-backed forces have responded with airstrikes inside Yemen. The fighting is also raising concerns around the strategic Bab el-Mandeb Strait and regional shipping routes. Here is what is driving the renewed Houthi-Saudi conflict, how Yemen’s civil war reached this point, and why the latest escalation could have wider regional consequences.
