Leaf fall on the railway is more serious than most may think. Did you know leaves on the line are the rail equivalent to black ice on the roads?
When wet, leaves create a slippery layer on the tracks which affects train acceleration and braking.
We work closely with Network Rail (and their leaf-busting trains) to clear railway lines. Trains also often run at reduced speeds to ensure the safety of our customers.
