ELISION first gave the performance of this most amazing trio in January 2005. Conducted at the time by Franck Ollu, motion + form is now one of a number of pieces composed for percussion, harp and contrabass at the instigation of the ELISION ensemble.
Dominik writes, "The sounds of percussion (mainly steel drum), harp, and double bass contain a multitude of strange possibilities, as their sharp distinctions seem to draw one another to combine into a "timbral soup" that bursts out to discover a sound-structure that is being established through interactions that invent each moment along their passage through time".
ELISION continues to work with our brilliant team. Here percussionist Peter Neville, harpist Marshall McGuire and contrabassist Kathryn Schulmeister are wonderfully captured and documented by Agatha Yim of Polyphonic Pictures and sound engineer Alistair McLean. And once again at our favourite venue - the Salon of the Melbourne Recital Centre!
