The Mauritius Chamber of Agriculture projects a sugar harvest of 220,000 tons for 2025, a slight decrease compared to last year.
However, there are reasons for optimism, according to its Secretary-General Jacqueline Sauzier. She believes that budgetary measures related to the water sector, the employment of foreign workers, and the allocation of more than 655 million US dollars in the renewable energy sector will indirectly benefit the sugar industry.
