I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON MY SOUND ALL DAY. I know it is not great. SORRY...better sound soon!
Philip Yancey has issued a public apology after revelations of an eight-year affair, and the responses have been intense, divided, and deeply emotional.
In this video, I reflect on the apology itself and on the questions many people are asking in the comments:
Can we trust it?
What does real repentance actually look like?
And how do we hold truth, accountability, and grace at the same time?
I explore these questions through a biblical lens, comparing the responses of King Saul and King David. Both men sinned publicly. Only one truly repented. The difference wasn’t the absence of failure, but the posture of the heart afterward.
This is not a video about canceling or defending Philip Yancey.
It’s about discernment.
It’s about how we evaluate apologies, especially from spiritual leaders.
And it’s about the danger of mistaking words for transformation.
If you’ve felt conflicted, disappointed, unsure what to believe, or even unsure how to respond as a person of faith, this conversation is for you.
I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments. How do you personally distinguish remorse from repentance?
