Pesticide residues are in miniscule quantities on finished foods: in the scale of parts per billion and parts per trillion.

For context:
1 part per billion is 1 second of time in 31.7 years
1 part per trillion is 1 second of time in 31,700 years

These levels can be detected by highly sensitive chemistry tools but don’t pose any risk to your health.

Unfortunately, anti-science messaging from the EWG, Consumer Reports, Moms Across America, “Food Babe”, “Glyphosate Girl”, and others completely misunderstand and misinterpret science to spread fear about perfectly safe and nutritious foods.

Recently, the Guardian made claims borne from Consumer Reports misinformation to tell people to peel their apples because of pesticide “risks” - when that recommendation only serves to reduce the fiber and nutritional content of these foods when people aren’t eating enough fiber to begin with.

Organic and conventional foods use pesticides. They’re not treating finished foods with them. And the levels detected on finished foods don’t pose a risk. The dose makes the poison with EVERYTHING.

In reality, the foods you get at the store don’t have clinically meaningful levels of ANY pesticide, whether it is organic or conventional.

What’s far more harmful? Discouraging consumption of fruits and vegetables through fear-filled messages that are not true.
