EU pledges to make all plastic waste recyclable by 2030

The European Union has unveiled plans for plastic packaging in Europe to be recyclable by 2030 to try and do away with single-use plastic like coffee cups.
Tuesday's announcement by the European Commission follows China's decision to ban imports of foreign recyclable material.
The commission also said its strategy would boost business opportunities by creating new recycling markets in Europe and change the way products are produced, designed and recycled.
The proposal, however, did not include any plans for a tax on plastic packaging.
The commission wants to reduce the use of plastic bags per person in member states from 90 a year to 40 by 2026 and have 55 percent of all plastic to be recycled by 2030.
