The 15th Human Rights in Asia Conference is entitled “Human Rights Impacts on the Fashion Industry in Asia”. The focus will be on the impact of fast fashion industries on the working conditions of factory labourers in Asia. Additionally, it will discuss the relation between Business and Human Rights and the industry’s obligations towards the realization of Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ESCR) and sustainable practices in the garment industry. Finally, it will conclude with the vulnerable position of migrants and women in the industry.
The conference happened on two days: 18 and 25 March 2023.
In the Day One Session, there will be two keynote sessions on Working Conditions and Living Wages. Three speakers will be Mr. Tomoya Obokata, Ms. Kate Larsen and Mr. Wiranta Ginting.
In the panel discussion, Dr. Katya Alkhateeb will be present as a moderator on the 18th March.
