Redbridge Group Director Kos Samaras says the Victorian Labor Party has historically viewed districts like Werribee as “safe seats”.
The Greens have conceded defeat in the Prahran by-election to Liberal candidate Rachel Westaway, while Premier Jacinta Allan claims the result in Labor's previously safe seat of Werribee shows Victorians dislike the state opposition.
“Their strategy for the last 10 years has been to basically pour billions of dollars into other parts of Melbourne because that’s where the marginal seats were,” Mr Samaras told Sky News host Paul Murray.
“They did too much of that and unfortunately for them, they are now actually copping the consequences of effectively years of neglect.”
