The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken over the probe into the death of Manisha, a 19-year-old playschool teacher from Bhiwani, Haryana, following widespread public outrage and protests. Manisha went missing on August 11, 2025, after leaving her school to inquire about admission to a nursing college. Her body was found in a field near Singhani village on August 13, 2025. The initial police investigation suggested suicide, citing a suicide note, evidence of insecticide purchase, and traces of poison in her body, with post-mortem reports ruling out sexual assault. However, Manisha’s family, particularly her father Sanjay, rejected the suicide claim, alleging murder and pointing to injuries on her body, including claims of a slit throat and discrepancies in the post-mortem reports from Bhiwani Civil Hospital and PGIMS Rohtak. Due to intense protests, road blockades, and demands from villagers, khap leaders, and opposition parties, including the Congress, the Haryana government, led by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, announced on August 20, 2025, that the case would be handed over to the CBI for an impartial investigation. A third post-mortem was conducted at AIIMS, Delhi, on August 20, 2025, at the family’s request. Manisha’s last rites were performed on August 21, 2025, in her native village, Dhani Laxman, under heavy police presence after the family agreed to proceed following the CBI probe announcement. The Haryana government also suspended mobile internet and SMS services in Bhiwani and Charkhi Dadri for 48 hours to curb unrest, and the Bhiwani Superintendent of Police was transferred, with five police personnel suspended for alleged lapses in handling the case.

दरअसल, इस पूरे मामले में पुलिस ने पहले दिन से ही कोताही बरती. 11 अगस्त को जब मनीषा लापता हुई थी तो परिवार ने लोहारू थाने में शिकायत दी थी. इस पर पुलिस ने रुचि नहीं दिखाई औऱ पिता से कहा कि उसकी बेटी भाग गई होगी और जल्द ही घर लौट आएगी. इसके बाद 12 अगस्त को केस तो दर्ज कर लिया गया, लेकिन मनीषा की तलाश में पुलिस ने नहीं कुछ नहीं किया.
