President Droupadi Murmu publicly expressed dissatisfaction with the West Bengal government led by Mamata Banerjee during a public event. The issue arose after the state government reportedly denied permission for an International Santhal Conference to be held at the planned venue in North Bengal.

According to the President, the event was initially scheduled in Bidhannagar, but the location was later shifted to a smaller venue in Gosaipur near Bagdogra Airport, causing inconvenience to organizers and attendees. President Murmu also hinted at lapses in protocol and preparations during her visit to Siliguri.

Protocol requires the Chief Minister or senior ministers to receive the President, but none were present at the airport. Despite expressing disappointment, President Murmu clarified that she holds no personal grievance against Mamata Banerjee, even referring to her as a younger sister.

This marks one of the rare instances where a President has openly expressed dissatisfaction with a state government's arrangements on a public platform.
