Описание: For the first shrine visit during the New Year we came to the most famous Shinto shrine of entire Japan! Japanese people dream to at least come here once in their lifetime to pray. Shinto religion is dedicated to nature and so the sun goddess Amaterasu is the highest deity. The big building of the shrine has a very holy mirror of the goddess and we are not allowed to enter and see it, we cannot even see the temple building. At the gates of the temple they have a place where you can toss a coin and pray. And then for very special visitors probably big companies who donate a lot of money to the Shrine they might be invited inside. But everyone else will just stop at the gate and you are not allowed to take pictures there. But the very beautiful part is to be strolling through the forest with huge trees that are so rare in Japan. The Japanese forests are made of a smaller type of trees and so the Japanese people are very impressed to come to this place and see these very ancient hundreds years old trees growing so happily and everybody is touching them. so now they are having a skirt to protect them. And then there is a very famous shopping street right in front of the way to the shrine almost 1 km long full of delicious eateries and amazing souvenirs to bring back home or send by post to your beloved ones. Matsuzaka beef is being recently served as sushi and then you should also try the local Ise Ebi Shrimp or Udon noodles served in a thick soy sauce. The most famous local sweets AKAFUKU is made of red bean paste molded around sticky White pounded rice Mochi and served with roasted green tea. you should come here during the week days because it is very crowded and wear comfortable shoes to enjoy the forest stroll and the long shopping streets.
