Rowena Fire forces hundreds to flee homes, destroys 20+ structures in Oregon: 'Gone, just like that'

Описание: Hundreds of people are still under Level 3 “GO NOW” evacuation orders as the Rowena Fire continues to burn in the Columbia River Gorge

Fueled by gusty wind and dry conditions, the fire has exploded to 3,500 acres in just over 24 hours. As of 1 p.m. Thursday it is still uncontained.

At least 20 homes have burned, and entire communities are anxiously waiting for updates from fire officials.

Nearly four dozen people took refuge at an emergency shelter at The Dalles Middle School at 1100 E. 12th Street.

The Wasco County Fairgrounds at 81849 Fairgrounds Road in Tygh Valley is open for livestock and horses.
