A devastating 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck eastern Afghanistan late Sunday night, killing more than 600 people and injuring over 1,000. Entire villages near the Pakistan border have been reduced to rubble, as rescue teams race to reach remote mountain communities. The quake’s epicenter was in Nangarhar province near Jalalabad, a key trade hub. Afghanistan’s weak infrastructure and limited emergency response capacity have made the disaster even deadlier, with survivors now facing harsh conditions and little outside support.
