Welcome back to the Midnight Mist. Tonight, we’re turning up the heat. The smoke is clearing, the neon lights are buzzing, and the dance floor is calling.
This session is a tribute to the 'Jump Era' of 1949-1951. We leave the shadows of the Delta for the electric pulse of Chicago's South Side clubs. We honor the kings of swing—Louis Jordan, Tiny Bradshaw, and the wild energy of Wynonie Harris. In this volume, we explore the 'Neon Swing' aesthetic: the relentless walking bass, the honking tenor saxophones, and the percussive fire of boogie-woogie piano.
Leading the charge is the incomparable 'Jumpin' Jackie Joyner, a master of ceremonies whose voice was built for celebration.
