Apricot tree
Prunus armeniaca, commonly called apricot, apricot, albergero or apricot is a fruit tree native to China, Turkey, Iran, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Syria.
It is one of the earliest fruits: they ripen from May, although there are late varieties that do so in July. The apricot is a tree resistant to drought and most diseases, although it does not support long-standing water.
Eat some apricots and leave their pit for a few days at room temperature. Place the seeds wrapped in a damp napkin (damp, not puddled) in a container type tupper or airtight bag and place it in the refrigerator.
It may take 4-5 weeks if it starts to germinate now, if not, nothing will come out until next spring.
Sewer system. The soil must have good drainage. Although the apricot withstands low temperatures and some frosts well, it does not support excess accumulated water. We must bear in mind that when watering the soil does not puddle and it can drain well so as not to accumulate too much water that harms the roots.
The time to do apricot pruning is in late winter. Ensuring that such an operation does not coincide with days of severe cold, because it is detrimental that the fresh wood from the cuts is exposed to its effects.
Visual acuity. Apricots are rich in beta-carotene, a component that is converted into vitamin A in the body and this is essential for the good health of our retina.
Fruit of the apricot tree, edible, fleshy, almost round, yellow to red in color, velvety skin and with a smooth stone in the center.
