Officials Investigate Cause of Venice Canal Turning Fluorescent Green

Описание: Venice’s iconic Grand Canal turned a fluorescent green color over the weekend, initially puzzling experts and local officials about what could be the cause.

According to CNN, authorities announced on Tuesday that they now believe the color change is due to a ‘non-toxic’ chemical that is ‘commonly used in underwater construction to help identify leaks.’

No group or individual has been identified as responsible for the incident, but officials believe that, because of the volume of the chemical release, it was not accidental but purposeful — potentially as a form of environmental direct activism.
