The following video is a task for the iVersity MOOC "Future of Storytelling" for week 4. In it, I discuss 3 fiction and 3 non-fiction dead tree publications that I take inspiration from. They are by no means the be-all and end-all of what I draw from, but they might offer something to folks starting out in storytelling or are looking for some information on certain subjects.
Fiction Books: -
*Black Mist And Other Japanese Futures (edited by Orson Scott Card and Keith Ferrell) #scifi #cyberpunk
*The Hollowing (written by Robert Holdstock) #fantasy
*The High House + The False House (written by James Stoddard) #fantasy
Non-Fiction Books:
*The Story of a Novel (written by Thomas Wolfe) #autobiography #writing
*Immortality: Funerary Rites and Customs (written by C.E. Vulliamy) #anthropology #archeology #sociology #psychology
*The Magician's Companion: A Practical & Encyclopedia Guide to Magical & Religious Symbolism (written by Bill Whitcomb) #mysticism #eroticism
If there are books that offer inspiration to you, then be sure to let me know in the comments section. I am not sure if fellow students will be able to post links to their own videos in the comments section as hyperlinks are often disabled, but if this is the case, then feel free to send me an youtube mail with the details and I will check out your own StoryMOOC Inspiration Week video. Let's keep this conversation going and maybe find some awesome books to read in the process!
