Описание: Berklee Valencia graduate students perform an arrangement by faculty member Iván Cebrián and Berklee Valencia alumna Carmel Gozlan MM ‘24 of Saudade, Saudade, a song by Portuguese multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, producer, arranger, and composer MARO BM ‘17, at Berklee Valencia commencement concert.

Saudade is explained as a sort of longing, wistful nostalgia for something or someone beloved that is no longer with us, leaving us with a blend of “the pain of missing something” and “the joy of having had something worth missing.” MARO wrote Saudade, Saudade while processing the loss of her grandfather.

Morning, Dew, Hope was the first of three concerts held at the Teatre Martín i Soler in the Palau de les Arts, València, on Saturday, July 6, as part of the 2024 commencement celebrations—a remarkable farewell to the class of 2024. At the concert, students sang of ancient cities, guardians of crossroads, arches and pomegranate trees, strange flowers and seeds, and a river we surrender to in order to reach the ocean.
