12-03-2025 An F-16 Thunderbird fighter jet from Nellis Air Force Base crashed near China Lake in San Bernardino County on Wednesday, according to the county’s fire department and US Air Force officials.
The USAF confirmed that the pilot of the F-16 crash successfully ejected to safety and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and is currently in stable condition receiving follow-up care. The plane that crashed was an F-16C Fighting Falcon (AKA VIPER) aircraft that was on a training mission over controlled airspace in California, according to the Thunderbirds.
My video was recorded August 7th, 2010, at the Naval Base Ventura County Point Mugu 2010 Air Show in Ventura CA. Video footage filmed by my wife Gail Whisenant, it was hard getting this footage with people bumping into her and she couldn't get the footage of the pilot getting into the other F-16, they had to move the crowd to get an emergency vehicle in past the gate. Thank you for watching & please subscribe.
The USAF Thunderbirds are the U.S. Air Force's official air demonstration squadron, formed in 1953. They showcase the capabilities of the F-16 Fighting Falcon through precision aerial maneuvers, demonstrating the skills of Air Force pilots to audiences worldwide. The Thunderbirds are recognized as one of the oldest formal flying aerobatic teams, ranking third globally, and they perform alongside other elite teams like the Blue Angels and the Patrouille de France.
