Followed, Checked & Accused… at a Jumble Sale

I’ve been to countless jumble sales, car boot sales and charity events over the years - and 99% of the time the experience is positive, friendly and welcoming.
But this one was different.
From being followed around, watched every time I picked something up, having my bags checked, and even being stopped on the way out and asked if I wanted to pay for items I’d already bought… it honestly left me feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome.
What made it worse was seeing other customers quoted one price, only for that same item to suddenly become more expensive when I asked. Whether intentional or not, it genuinely felt like my face didn’t fit.
I want to be clear - I hope they raised lots of money for their cause, and this isn’t an attack on jumble sales as a whole nor in any way the charity itself. Anyone who follows this channel knows how many I support and enjoy often with great interactions.
But thrifting isn’t always sunshine and bargains - and this video shows the other side and, unfortunately this was, by a country mile, my worst experience yet.
Maybe young people aren’t welcome at events like this. Maybe it was the way I dressed. Maybe it was just an off day. Could it have been the fact I wasn't local. Or do I just give off a shift vibe. Either way, I won’t be going back - and I think it’s worth talking about my experience.
If you’ve had ever had a negative experience while thrifting, let me know in the comments (or if you think I was overreacting. I’m genuinely curious) 👇
