Tesla Model Y: What I Learned After 5k Miles of Ownership | Review & Impressions

Описание: We took delivery of our Refresh Tesla Model Y Juniper 4 months ago. In that time, we have accumulated nearly 7k miles, and we have experienced enough to know what the good, the bad and the ugly are in the new Tesla Model Y.

The refresh Model Y comes with some new equipment and features that take what was good about the old Model Y and made it better. But there have been some other things that have happened since the Model Y began customer deliveries in 2020, and after driving this car for the last several months, its quite clear why the new Model Y is a success.

Of course the new Model Y has an updated front end and rear end, with a new interior. The structure of the car however is pretty much the same. Where Tesla focused their efforts on with the refresh Model Y is in the details. Customer feedback, and opportunities to listen to prospective customers has paid off.

Tesla has actually added features in the new car, which many were not expected to find their way into this next generation Model Y. Things like a new rear screen, cooled seats, rear light bar all fail to compare to the improvements in sound and ride quality.

After 1 drive you will be able to feel for yourself just how much better refined this new Model Y is. The suspension is actually smooth and the road noise is non-existent. A lot of that is thanks to a completely redesigned suspension, supported by new tires and soft touch materials everywhere.

Tesla really went all out on the sound deadening efforts as is apparent in the lack of road noise. Every surface has been reviewed and improved. What was originally basic plastic is now wrapped in a soft touch vinyl that supports a quieter cabin. Dual pane windows surround the car adding the final touch on this new quiet driving machine.

Quite possibly the most impressive part of this car is the efficiency. Long gone are the days of Tesla's not achieving anything close to their rated range on the highway. Of course the faster you go the shorter your range will be, but what used to be a 20% hit on range at 70 MPH is now nothing. In fact, I was able to achieve greater range than advertised on my range test at 70 MPH, which is amazing.

While some will point to their disappointment in not getting 800v architecture, 4 wheel steer and a whole host of other top end features, they continue to forget that this car is supposed to be affordable. You can get all of those great features in a car that is 2x the price. The Model Y is the best selling car in the world, and when you experience it for yourself, you will quickly figure out why that is.
