অচিন্ত্য কুমার সেনগুপ্ত বাংলা সাহিত্যের এক প্রবাদপ্রতিম লেখক এবং প্রতিষ্ঠিত উকিল । অচিন্ত্য কুমার সেনগুপ্ত বিখ্যাত বাংলা পত্রিকা কল্লোলের সময়কার লেখক। অচিন্ত্য কুমার সেনগুপ্ত বহু ছোটগল্প আর উপন্যাস লিখেছেন যা আজো সমকালিন ও চিরন্তন।

ত্রাণ গল্পটি সমকালীন সময়ে খুবই প্রাসঙ্গিক একটি গল্প। গল্পটির যে বিষয়ে বলা হয়েছে সেটি হল বিবাহ যা আজো সমগোত্রীয় না হলে সামাজিক অমর্যাদার। আবার সাথে সাথে একটি মেয়ের বিবাহ হলে তো কথাই নেই, অথচ একটি পুরুষের ক্ষেত্রে সেটা হয়ে যায় বংশরক্ষা। গল্পটি এক অর্থে সমাজে টিকে থাকা সামন্তি মানসিকতার চালচিত্র।

Achintya Kumar Sengupta was an exceptional author of Bangla literature and a professional advocate. Achintya Kumar Sengupta was the author of Kallol Patrika, a famous Bangla magazine. Achintya Kumar Sengupta wrote numerous short stories and novels that remain relevant and contemporary.

The story of Tran is very much contemporary for the indian society as a whole. The story deals with a marriage that happens only within the same clan; if not, then the marriage will be considered a sin. At the same time, if the marriage is for a girl, then the sin will be staunch, but it will be far more relaxed so far as a male is concerned. In one word, the story shows the feudal social system of India.
