বাংলাদেশের সবচেয়ে বড় উদ্ভিদ উদ্যান "জাতীয় উদ্ভিদ উদ্যান" যা ন্যাশনাল বোটানিক্যাল গার্ডেন বা মিরপুর বোটানিক্যাল গার্ডেন নামে ব্যাপক পরিচিত।

বাংলাদেশের উদ্ভিদ প্রজাতি সংরক্ষণ, গবেষণা ও প্রদর্শনের সবচেয়ে বড় কেন্দ্র হিসেবে বিবেচিত। ১৯৬১ সালে প্রায় ২১০ একর (৮৪ হেক্টর) জায়গা জুড়ে উদ্যানটি প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়। ঢাকার মিরপুরে "বাংলাদেশ জাতীয় চিড়িয়াখানা"-র পাশেই বোটানিক্যাল গার্ডেনের অবস্থান।

মনোরম প্রকৃতিকেন্দ্রিক এই দর্শনীয় স্থান শুধু একটি উদ্যান নয় বরং যেন জীবন্ত উদ্ভিদের বিশাল সংগ্রহশালা। বাংলাদেশ ও বিশ্বের বিভিন্ন দুর্লভ ও বিলুপ্তপ্রায় ১২০০+ প্রজাতির গাছপালা, ফুল, ফল ও ঔষধি উদ্ভিদের নিরাপদ আশ্রয়স্থল এই গার্ডেন।

এসব উদ্ভিদ রক্ষণাবেক্ষণ, গবেষণা ও সংরক্ষণের মাধ্যমে ভবিষ্যৎ প্রজন্মের জন্য অবারিত প্রকৃতির পাঠশালা এই উদ্যান। কৃত্রিম লেক, পাহাড়ের মতো ঢালু ভূমি, ফুলের বাগান ও ঝর্ণারমতো সাজানো পরিবেশ সবমিলিয়ে প্রাকৃতিক জীববৈচিত্র্যের অনন্য সমাহার। বর্ণিল প্রজাপতি, ফুল, পাখিদের কলকাকলি আর কাঠবিড়ালীর ছোটাছুটি জায়গাটিকে আরও প্রাণবন্ত করে তোলে। প্রকৃতিপ্রেমীদের জন্য ঢাকা শহরে অবসর সময়ে সবুজের মাঝে ডুবে যাওয়ার 'জন্য বোটানিক্যাল গার্ডেন এক অনন্য জায়গা।

Bangladesh’s largest plant sanctuary, the National Botanical Garden—widely known as the Mirpur Botanical Garden—stands as a living archive of nature’s wonders.
