First of all, here’s my first commercial song, “Two Beds, One Heart,” from my new album “Neon Ghosts & Whiskey Scars.”

My latest song tells the story of my grandfather, a man who spent decades building a life of love, grit, and strength. In 1987, he cared for my grandmother as she fell ill, staying right beside her in their home, holding her hand and never letting go.

Fast forward 36 years later, in 2023, my brother was there for my grandfather, returning that same love at the end of his 96-year life… in the same room, almost the exact spot where my grandmother had passed.

People have asked me why I started writing songs, especially now. The truth is simple… I started writing because I didn’t want the stories to disappear.

Music, to me, isn’t about fame or chasing trends. It’s about telling the truth. It’s about capturing moments that would otherwise fade away. The hospital rooms. The front porch talks. The hard winters. The quiet strength of people who never asked for recognition but deserved it anyway.

I write about family. About loss. About love that lasts longer than a lifetime. About working hands, worn floors, and rooms that remember everything. I write about the world we’re living in and the questions we don’t always ask out loud.

And yes, I use my own voice in most of my songs. It may be AI-enhanced, but it’s still my voice. The stories are mine. The words are mine. The emotion is mine.

When I create a song, I don’t just push a button and let something write it for me. I map out the instruments. I choose the tone. I decide the kind of vocals, the feel, the tempo. Just like a real band in a studio, I rewrite lines over and over. I listen to the same track again and again until it feels right. I adjust phrasing. I adjust mood. I adjust everything.

It’s not about feeding an algorithm and walking away. If you want a song to sound real, it needs the human element. It needs heart. It needs intention. It needs someone who lived it.

That’s what I’m doing.

Music is just a way of telling an honest story. Sometimes it’s painful. Sometimes it’s uncomfortable. But it’s real. And real matters.

If even one person hears a song and thinks of their grandfather… their wife… their struggles… or their own story… then it was worth writing.

That’s what music is to me.
Not noise. Not image.
