Number 10: Pyramid of Giza

450-481 ft, the Pyramid of Giza, was built in 2560 B.C. and held the title of the tallest man made structure for thousands of years. It is located in El Giza, Egypt and was originally built as a tomb for a great Pharaoh.

Number 9: Gateway Arch

The Gateway Arch in St. Louis, Missouri is a staggering 630 ft tall. It sits on the west bank of the Mississippi River and is an internationally recognized symbol of the city of St. Louis. It was opened to the public in 1968.

Number 8: Christ the King

Christ the King is an Art Deco statue of Jesus Christ is located in Poland. It is over 108 ft tall and took 5 years to build. It is completely white with a golden crown. It surpasses popular Christ the Redeemer statue in Brazil. Christ the King was only completed recently on 6 November 2010.

Number 7: One World Trade Center

1776 ft tall, One World Trade Center in New York City started construction in 2006 and officially opened its doors in fall 2014. It has 104 floors that are used as office space, observation decks, retail stores, and a 9/11 memorial museum.

Number 6: New Century Global Center, China

The floor area of the New Century Global Center in Chengdu, China is the largest in the world. It has 18 million square feet of floor space. It contains a lifesize pirate ship, hotel, IMAX movie theatre, retail stores, a 54,000 sq ft artificial beach, and a concert arena.

Number 5: The Great Sphinx of Giza

With the head of a man and body of a lion or cat, stands the world renowned Sphinx. The Great Sphinx of Giza measures 20m x 6m x 73.5 m and is made out of limestone. Construction was completed around 3001 BC.

Number 4: Spring Temple Buddha

The tallest statue in the world according to the Guinness Book of World Records is the Spring Temple Buddha located in Henan, China. With a pedestal that is still having additions put on it, it is estimated to be a combined height of 420-680 ft. Beneath the Buddha is a monastery.
Number 3: Ranikot Fort

The world’s largest fort is located in Pakistan and its original purpose and architects remain a mystery. There has been no evidence of a city or town located within its walls. Its circumference is a jaw-dropping 16 miles. It is believed to have been built in the 17th century with some sections being rebuilt in 1812.

Number 2: World’s Largest Indoor Rainforest

At 688 ft wide and 350 ft high the world’s largest indoor rainforest is located in what originally was meant for airship hangar. The artificial contains a 9,000 sq ft swimming pool and over 600 ft of sandy shoreline.

Stretching over 13,000 miles from the Bohai Sea to the Shanghai Pass stands the truly Great Wall of China. Construction on the Great Wall of China began as early as the 7th century BC and then continued with additions and reparations being made into the 1500s. It was meant to deter and protect against enemies such as the mongols. The wall was previously thought to be a little over 5,000 miles long but in 2012 after an extensive study it was declared to be 13,170.60 miles in length.

While it’s only number 10 on our list, the Pyramids of Giza and other pyramid structures have always been a mystery to many.
