Sand casting lead weights can't be that hard, can it? We tried casting some lead weights for a 1970's ITE studio pedestal.
While the end product was ugly, it did work and we only spent a few dollars.
We used , used french fry grease and some Home Depot sand to create sand casting molds. But it was not great. In fact, we did a pretty sloppy job.
But, at the end of the day, we did what we needed. The lead castings were good enough and out vintage camera was well balanced.
